Ethnography for Protoyping Educational Toys

Just found this paper from the 2002 Human Factors Conference in Australia (pdf), on using "rapid ethnography" as a development tool for a new web-enabled educational toy. I'm always interested to get a look at the toy design/development process in industry.

What does that even mean?

Informalist: n. One who is interested in the study of, design of, and participation in informal learning.

Informal Learning: n.
1. Out-of-school learning, esp. in designed out-of-school learning environments.
2. Learner-led/chosen learning.
3. Non-traditional learning structures within or out of school contexts.
4. Incidental or unplanned learning that takes place in or out of school.
5. Learning that is not socially prescribed.
6. Insert your personal definition here

Cognitive: adj. A perspective on human behavior that emphasizes individual mental processes. These might be the sole subject of research, or they may simply be a lens through which behavior and the world is viewed.

Well, that covers most of my research interests. But not all of them.
